WEEK IN REVIEW:

The Chargers packed their bags and where on their way to Buffalo to face the Bills, some may say teams traveling across the states are at a disadvantage and the time zone difference.  That doesn’t matter to the Chargers though, as they where 2-2 last season with victories  over the Eagles and Jaguars, and losses to the Titans and Redskins.

Hot off their big win against the Seattle Seahawks, the Chargers went into Buffalo and pushed them around and picked up the victory with a 22-10 score.  Though the Chargers lost Running Back Danny Woodhead to an injury on his first carry, it did not stop the Bolts from doing what they do best: running the football.  They fed the ball to Donald Brown 31 times who picked just 62 yards on the ground.  Quarterback Philip Rivers was in total command against Buffalo as he completed 18 of 25 passes for 256 yards and 2 touchdowns.  The Chargers picked up the win even though WR Keenan Allen and TE Antonio Gates combined for 3 receptions, instead the Chargers featured WR Eddie Royal in the red zone and let WR Malcom Floyd go deep on a few routes — heck, we even saw an appearance by TE Lardarius Green; good to know the coaching staff knows he’s alive.

Defensive End Corey Liuget continued his breakout season by putting up 6 tackles, 0.5 sacks and 2 QB hits en route to AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK:

QB Philip Rivers:  18/25 passing 256 yards 2 touchdowns and a 131.4 QB Rating

WHAT’S IN STORE:

The Chargers fly back home and welcome rookie QB Blake Bortles and the Jacksonville Jaguars to Qualcomm.  The Chargers should have no problem putting points on the board as the Jaguars are giving up nearly 40 points per game.  Meeting for the fourth time in the last five seasons, Chargers lead the series 4-2 and having won the last three meetings.

INFIRMARY REPORT:

RB Danny Woodhead ankle/fibula injury and out for season

LB Manti Te’o – Fractured Foot (week to week)

LB Melvin Ingram – Hip Injury (out at least 8 games)

ROOKIE REPORT:

LB Jeremiah Attaochu – still nursing a hamstring injury

CB Jason Verrett – hamstring injury

RB Brandon Oliver – 3 car 11 yards, role could increase as back-up to Donald Brown.
